Three Reasons You Must Write a Press Release

Did you know that a press release can be the most powerful marketing tool you'll ever use?  In this lesson we are going to find out what a well written press release can do for your business and your profits.

The idea of writing a press release scares many people.  The structured format and need to convince journalists that it is worthy is enough to send a hardened professional running. That
being said, you are doing your business a great disservice if you don't take this marketing  medium seriously.

Reason #1  Press releases give you instant credibility.

The media coverage of your business is perceived as an endorsement.  When a current or potential customer sees your business highlighted in the media you are instantly considered reputable and credible.  People, you and me and everyone else, give more credit and attention to people and businesses that are recognized by others.

Reason #2  Press releases have a snowball effect.

Your notability will keep growing and growing. Picture the following scenario.  You send a press release to local media about an event you're having or a new product.  Local media picks up the release.  A local radio or television host reads the article and invites you to speak.  Your release is picked up on the blogs and people are talking about you. All of this from one release.

Even better, you can change a few sentences in your release and target specific markets and demographics making your release all the more powerful at bringing recognition and profits to your business.

Reason #3  Press releases are perfect 'free' advertising.

What's better than having your press release posted in newspapers, blogs, and magazines around the world for free?  Absolutely nothing.  You can't pay for this kind of advertising
and you don't have to.

Of course you still have to write the release, although it doesn't have to be a time consuming, hair pulling experience.  Writing a press release can actually be fun.  Really.  Devote an hour or two a week to learn the process and then allow yourself to get creative with how your company can generate media exposure.

Still tentative?  Don't worry, there are numerous resources to help you including a free press release tutorial to help get that first press release written, distributed and picked up by the media.
